Meet Rick
A career centered on water quality and public health.
Rick Blodgett is the founder and former Board Chair of Bright Water Foundation and is the owner/director of the Blodgett Research Institute for Waterborne Infectious Disease. He is the owner and director of Water Environmental Testing Laboratory, a local lab specializing in bacteriological analysis of the private wells of El Dorado County residents for 32 years.
For 33 years, Rick worked as a Water Quality Chemist for the City of Sacramento. His education includes a Ph.D. in Public Health Epidemiology from Walden University and a B.S. from Sacramento State in Water Quality Microbiology.
Rick has also worked in forensic science for the Sacramento County Coroner's Office. In El Dorado County, he volunteered with Search and Rescue and served as Chief of Logistics and was awarded EDC Search & Rescue Volunteer of the Year (2004) and EDC Pandemic Planning Outstanding Public Service Award (2006). He also served for 25 years as a Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America, and has been both Scoutmaster (1995) and Venture Leader of the Year (2002).
Rick is running for the EID Board of Directors in Division 2 to put his scientific experience and service background to work for the community.
Water isn't a new issue for Rick. It's his life's work.
EID is responsible for essential public infrastructure and water service. Rick brings experience that is unique and especially relevant to the work of the board.
