Meet Rick

A career centered on water quality and public health.

Rick Blodgett is the founder and Board Chair of Bright Water Foundation and the owner/director of the Blodgett Research Institute for Waterborne Infectious Disease and a California State-certified Water Environmental Testing Laboratory.

For 33 years, Rick worked as a Water Quality Chemist for the City of Sacramento. His education includes a Ph.D. in Public Health Epidemiology from Walden University and a B.S. from Sacramento State in Water Quality Microbiology.

Rick has also worked as a forensic scientist for the Sacramento County Coroner's Office. In El Dorado County, he volunteered with Search and Rescue and served as Chief of Logistics. He also served for 25 years as a Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America.

Rick is running for the EID Board of Directors in Division 2 to put that technical experience and service background to work for the community.

Water isn't a new issue for Rick. It's been his life's work.

EID is responsible for essential public infrastructure and water service. Rick brings experience that is unusually relevant to the work of the board.

Thirty-three years as a Water Quality Chemist for the City of Sacramento, plus leadership of a state-certified environmental testing laboratory.

A Ph.D. in Public Health Epidemiology and a bachelor's degree focused on Water Quality Microbiology.
